Florida child support guidelines
Florida Statute §61.30 contains the child support guidelines that are the foundation of the court’s decisions on the matter. Courts generally abide strictly by these guidelines but may deviate by plus or minus five percent or more after considering all relevant factors in a given case, including:
- Children’s special needs
- Children’s ages
- Children’s station in life
- Family’s standard of living
- Each parent’s status and ability
The court must present its reasons in a written statement if it varies more than five percent from the guideline calculations. If appropriate in our client’s case, we prepare to argue why less or more support should be ordered and present convincing evidence that the judge can rely upon in a written decision, which is required in the event of a deviation from the Florida Child Support Guidelines.
